With a boost of new projects to improve how our Firm serves clients, the most important project of all is communication with clients. Communication is vital to quality representation and to ensure clients have all questions answered. There are “better” ways to communicate with the legal team to get questions answered faster.

Best way to communicate with your legal team:

What is the best way to communicate with your legal team? Clio Client Portal. Hands down, this is the best and most efficient way to communicate with your legal team. Why? Because both, your attorney and their staff, have access to this portal. The legal team gets alerts to any incoming messages. If staff is able to answer the question, they will, as they tend to have more open availability than attorneys. Information that staff can typically pull up is information regarding upcoming court hearings, call in information for hearings, case manager’s contact information, etc. The portal is a safe confidential means of communication with the Legal Team.

Better means of communication

The 2nd best way of communication: Email. It is even more efficient if the client cc’s staff on the email. This allows for your attorney to respond, even if your attorney is busy in a Court Hearing or on hold for a phone call. This provides you with a written record with the answer of your question.

A good method of communication

Schedule a phone call with your attorney through out website – click “Free Consultation.” This tab is not limited to only new clients. This is available for anyone who needs to schedule a phone call with their attorney. Unfortunately, with scheduled calls, you won’t get an answer to your question until the time of the call. This is why portal and email is preferred, so your questions can get answered immediately without delay.

Not so great means of communication

Phone calls without an appointment are extraordinarily difficult to accommodate – especially those who do not leave a voicemail. Your attorney cannot answer phone calls during Court Hearings, during phone calls, meetings, or when in a place where the call would not be confidential. Phone calls also eliminate the ability for staff to assist. If calls are made without an appointment, please leave a voicemail. Voicemails transcribe to your attorney’s email. This reminds the attorney that there was a missed call and does not get moved from your attorney’s email inbox until the call has been returned.

Least favorable means of communication

Text messages are the hardest to keep up with. Text messages are great during court hearings when a client has questions; but terrible for ongoing regular communication. Unlike emails, text messages don’t remain in the inbox until they are answered. Text messages get overlooked all the time. Clio portal offers a way for better communication that we would like to utilize and operates like a text message, but with more client benefits.

It is important to our Firm that clients are able to get immediate answers to their questions. Feedback is always welcome.
